‘It’s About War’: Zakharova on EU Military Assistance to Armenia
By allocating 10 million euros to the armed forces of Armenia, the European Union aims to extend its destructive influence in the South Caucasus. This statement was made by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a weekly press briefing.
“We have repeatedly pointed out that the EU has lost its peaceful foundation and lacks the capacity to establish peace, which it can actually use. There were times when the EU, at least in words, aspired to create some peaceful, stable situation, trying to consolidate something and conduct negotiations. Now it is obvious what decisions are being made and what documents are being signed. The EU has adopted a course of militarization and confrontation, serving not the interests of its citizens, but those of the United States and NATO,” Zakharova stated.
“Of course, behind the EU's plans to support the armed forces of Armenia with 10 million euros lie the geopolitical calculations of the EU to extend its destructive influence in this region, that is, in the South Caucasus. We are confident that, it seems to me, it is even obvious, and this is seen directly from the example of Ukraine, that the so-called European Peace Fund is not about peace, stability, or security. It is about war, inciting countries, and bloodshed,” Zakharova concluded.
