Solar Eruptions Expected: What They May Affect

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), dark plasma eruptions, known as cold solar eruptions, have a 60% chance of causing radio outages on Earth this week. This is reported by Daily Mail.

Media reports indicate that the eruption could disrupt radio, aviation, and satellite communications if it occurs before Friday.

The article notes that these so-called 'cold' solar eruptions, characterized by lower temperatures than 'hot' eruptions, have only become a serious subject of study by astrophysicists in the last decade. They produce microwave radiation as powerful as hot eruptions and create a higher peak frequency of gyro-synchrotron radiation—a specific type of radiation responsible for intense and destructive radio emissions during eruptions.

Previously, on July 19, British scientists from the University of Birmingham discovered the first signs of the next 11-year cycle of solar activity in the sonic signals emanating from our star. This was stated in a publication on the website of the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS).
