Is There a Police Force in Armenia? Daniel Ioannisian
Daniel Ioannisian, the program coordinator of the Institute for Civil Society, shared a post on Facebook: "In the city of Sevan, a criminal has shot and killed a 37-year-old dentist. Now, it’s not the criminal who is afraid, but the citizens. Even the city authorities are afraid to condemn the murder and have limited themselves to expressing condolences. Now the question is: is there a police force in Armenia?"
He added, "This year, in the first half, crimes committed with firearms and ammunition have significantly (almost doubled) increased. This is a terrifyingly negative and rapid trend." Earlier reports mentioned that on July 17 at 22:41, the emergency management center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received information from the 'Sevan' medical center that three men aged 37, 56, and 41 were admitted for medical assistance with gunshot wounds and internal bleeding; the first two from the city of Sevan, and the third from the village of Arinj in Kotayk Province.
