The Future of Armenia is Concerning; They are Destabilizing the Situation in the South Caucasus and Harming Themselves, Says Zakharova
Armenian-American military exercises raise concerns for the future of Armenia. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a press briefing.
“Armenia prefers to increase cooperation with NATO. It is, of course, a strange story. They participated in the alliance summit in Washington and are conducting joint exercises. A vivid example is the 'Eagle Partner 2024' exercises currently taking place in the country. This not only causes regret but also concern for Armenia's future, as the US and the EU have repeatedly engaged in similar maneuvers with numerous countries. You know well how that ends—being used and then discarded,” she said.
Zakharova pointed out that deepening cooperation with countries that consider Russia's strategic defeat as their goal places Yerevan in serious danger of destabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus, including to the detriment of its own security.
