Fire in Nice Claims 7 Lives, Including 3 Children
A fire that broke out in Nice has claimed the lives of 7 people, including 3 children. Authorities have declared arson.
Seven individuals, including three young children and a teenager, were killed in the fire that erupted in a residential building on Thursday night in Nice. According to footage from the scene, the fire devastated an apartment on the seventh floor of the building. French media reports indicate that a family from the Comoros Islands resided there.
At the time of the fire, there were 10 people in the apartment. The building is located in the Western Moulins neighborhood, near Nice Côte d'Azur Airport. Among the deceased are children aged 5, 7, and 10, as well as a 17-year-old teenager who jumped from a window in an attempt to escape. All of the victims were members of the same family.
Authorities have announced that an investigation into potential arson has been initiated. It has been reported that unidentified individuals may have poured gasoline in the stairwell near the burned apartment. The Nice municipality has stated that surveillance footage from nearby cameras captured three men wearing balaclavas, and they are currently being sought.
