Erdogan Calls Trump: They Discussed Attempt on Trump's Life
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has had a phone conversation with Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States and a candidate for re-election, as reported by trtrussian.com.
“President Erdogan once again condemned the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, wishing him a swift recovery,” the Turkish Presidential Office stated in a communiqué.
Erdogan described the assassination attempt as “an attack on democracy” and noted that “Trump's courageous behavior after this vile attack has reinforced democracy and demonstrates the American people's trust in him.”
“President Erdogan stated that Trump has shown strong leadership in reducing polarization and tension, and congratulated him on his official nomination as a candidate for the Republican Party for the presidency of the United States,” the communiqué added.
Erdogan expressed hope that the U.S. presidential elections in November would benefit the American people and enhance relations between Turkey and the United States.
