Investigative Committee to Examine Sergey Bagratyan's Wife's Sand Extraction Business
The Investigative Committee will check whether the company founded by Sergey Bagratyan's wife has expanded its sand extraction business. The online publication 'Hetq' reported on July 16 under the title 'The Company Founded by Sergey Bagratyan's Wife has Expanded Its Illegal Sand Extraction Business,' presenting factual data in a one-sided manner, unjustifiably manipulating the name of the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Arghishti Kyaramyan.
The Investigative Committee has announced this information.
“We regret that 'Hetq,' being a valuable and professional media outlet, did not approach the Investigative Committee of Armenia before publishing to refresh the information it had or to receive answers to clarifying questions, which could have improved the publication, allowing readers to draw more complete conclusions based on the comprehensiveness of the information,” the committee stated.
Given the above and the fact that numerous media outlets have, again without seeking comment from the Investigative Committee of Armenia, replicated the stated article on their platforms, the Investigative Committee finds it necessary to clarify the following:
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings being investigated by the Main Investigation Department of Economic Crimes and Smuggling under Articles 281 (part 1 and 2, section 2) and 381 (part 1) of the Criminal Code of Armenia, necessary measures have been undertaken to clarify the possible illegal entrepreneurial activities of the company 'A…,' as well as to determine circumstances of land pollution, violations of the requirements for the conservation or use of the subsoil, and to calculate and restore the damage caused to the state, as well as to prevent the possible illegal extraction of sand and subsoil use by the company.
