European Politicians Fear for Their Lives After Attempted Assassination of Trump: Politico
On July 13, an attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump during a campaign rally has raised concerns among European politicians about the possibility of similar attacks against them. This assessment comes from the European publication Politico.
According to the newspaper, the incident serves as a reminder to European political figures that the risk of political violence is also increasing in Europe. In this context, Marine Le Pen, leader of the parliamentary group of France's National Rally party, commenting on the assassination attempt against Trump, warned that "France is not immune to such violence."
As noted by the publication, the fears among European elites have been intensified by the fact that similar events have already occurred in Europe. In May, an assassination attempt was made against Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico, while last month, Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen narrowly escaped an attack. Additionally, two members of Parliament in the United Kingdom have been murdered over the past eight years.
