36-Year-Old Resident of Artik Attempts Self-Immolation at RA Prosecutor's Office

A 36-year-old man attempted self-immolation at the Republic of Armenia Prosecutor's Office on July 13. The Prosecutor's Office informed Sputnik Armenia about the incident.

The individual, who is under house arrest accused of fraud, wanted to meet with the supervising prosecutor of his case. A police officer explained that it was a non-working day and urged him to submit a request instead. However, the citizen did not heed the officer's advice and poured gasoline over himself in an attempt to self-immolate, an action that was prevented by the police officer.

ArmLur.am has identified the individual as Hrach Piroyan, who is registered in the city of Artik. The media outlet also reports that when the emergency services arrived at the scene, the police had already intervened to stop the man's actions.
