HEC on the Elimination of Consequences from Major Fire and Unanswered Calls

The consequences of the major fire that occurred at the "Yerevan HEC 1" are expected to be resolved by August 10, according to preliminary forecasts. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the "Armenian Electric Networks" company.

On July 6, it became known that the fire at the "Yerevan HEC" had led to a power outage in certain areas of the Kentron and Arabkir administrative districts. "Yerevan HEC 1" belongs to the "International Energy Corporation," supplying about 30 percent of the Kentron administrative district and 20 percent of the Arabkir administrative district.

As of today, that load has been redistributed among the company's other substations, and electricity supply is being maintained through alternative schemes using reserve cables. Under normal conditions, reserve cables serve as replacements for main cables. In other words, if an incident occurred, the reserve cables would replace the main ones until repairs were made. However, with the lack of reserved supply at present, subscribers are experiencing power outages, and the duration for the resolution of incidents is extending beyond the normal timeframe,” HEC representatives explained.

The company noted that considering the scale of the incident, specialists are working around the clock. Meanwhile, the HEC’s customer service informational hotline "1-80" is operating in an overloaded emergency mode, which is causing difficulties in responding to all calls.
