Armenia Ready to Continue Border Demarcation Process with Azerbaijan: Rubinyan
The Republic of Armenia is ready to continue the border demarcation process with Azerbaijan and to sign a peace agreement in the near future. This announcement was made by Ruben Rubinyan, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, during the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Conference.
He noted that approximately 12 kilometers of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border have already been demarcated, and the border guard services of both sides have been deployed in the relevant sections of the border.
“Armenia has no claims outside its internationally recognized territory and is prepared to engage in constructive and intensive work to continue the border demarcation process and to sign a peace treaty in a short period of time,” Rubinyan declared.
He emphasized that Armenia is not only ready but also interested in becoming part of international transit routes as a means of unblocking regional infrastructure.
According to the Deputy Speaker, there is no doubt that major infrastructure projects in the South Caucasus could serve as unifying factors for the countries in the region and beyond.
“The restoration and opening of transport routes in the South Caucasus should lead to the formation of a stable regional model of economic relations,” Rubinyan stated.
He indicated that within the framework of the peace agenda and prospects for regional development, the Armenian government has developed the “Peace Intersection” project, which aims to unblock all regional infrastructure based on full respect for the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries, as well as on principles of equality and reciprocity.
“By uniting the interests of all parties, we will have a historic opportunity to create prerequisites for cooperation, interdependence, and prosperity in the region,” the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament emphasized.
Rubinyan also mentioned that Armenia supports the normalization of political dialogue and the enhancement of stability in international relations. According to him, Armenia advocates for equal and constructive cooperation among all interested partners.
