Starting Today, the Interstate Road Through Kiran Village is Closed
Starting today, the interstate road that passes through Kiran village is no longer operational. This was reported by Azatutyun.
Patrolling officers are directing all passing vehicles to an alternative route through Acharqut village, which is already asphalted and where construction work is still ongoing. The section near the school has been excavated as a three-meter border wall is being constructed. It is assumed that this wall will continue up to the barbed wire.
Despite the Armenian-Azerbaijani agreement, according to which the bridge and approximately one kilometer of road will be handed over to Azerbaijan at the end of this month, the Armenian side is not utilizing it as of today.
This morning, the Road Department announced that the Kiran road would be temporarily closed for construction works starting today. According to the report, drivers can bypass this section using the H-58-Acharqut-H-58 roadway.
The road through Acharqut is 2.5 km until the highway, but for those traveling from Ijevan to Kiran, the route extends about 4 km longer due to the detour and returning only from the end of the road to the village.
This gravel road, which was difficult to traverse, began renovations following the Armenian-Azerbaijani agreement. Meanwhile, a new road is under construction, which will still require a long time to complete.
