Preschool Opened but Closed After 2 Months; Unclear Who Will Pay Salaries – PM Pashinyan

It is proposed to allocate 2 billion 228 million drams for financing 26 subvention programs in 20 communities across 8 regions. One of the programs dates back to 2021, 7 to 2022, and 18 to 2023. This decision project was presented by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan during the government meeting on July 11.

It is suggested to allocate 292 million drams to Aragatsotn province, 529 million drams to Ararat province, 373 million drams to Armavir province, 57 million drams to Gegharkunik province, 488 million drams to Lori province, 187 million drams to Kotayk province, 246 million drams to Shirak province, and 54 million drams to Tavush province.

“After adopting this decision, the Government will have allocated a total of 12 billion 306 million drams to subvention programs through a series of decisions,” said Sanosyan.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan listed the works that have been and are being carried out. These include the construction of irrigation and drinking water supply networks, renovation of sewage systems, lighting installation, gasification, asphalt paving of community roads, courtyard renovations, and other activities.

Pashinyan noted that recurring problems have been identified during regional visits, with the most significant being unresolved issues regarding the ongoing maintenance of operational facilities. “In one of the regions, a preschool was opened as part of a charitable program, and the opening ceremony of this preschool was widely circulated on the internet, etc. Two months later, we found out that the preschool was closed and not operational. What was the reason? It turned out that it was unclear who would pay the salaries of the preschool staff, who would cover the utility bills, and so on,” he mentioned, adding that in future this maintenance issue for operational facilities has been clarified in the program, specifying that these expenses should be reflected in the community budget.
