Getting Schengen Visas Has Become More Difficult for Armenians
As our government talks more about going to Europe, it becomes increasingly difficult for Armenian citizens to obtain Schengen visas to enter EU countries. This is reported by the newspaper Hraparak.
“People are lining up to enter any Western embassy and waiting for months to be admitted only to receive a rejection. For instance, those registered to visit the German embassy now will only get in during December 2023. In the embassy, they also have to wait in line, submit dozens of documents, certificates, bank statements, and pay 15,000 drams on the spot. Then, the staff accepting documents meticulously questions them: Where are you going? Why? Why that particular city and not another one?”
“Two weeks later, the person goes back to line up again, and upon receiving their passport, sees that the Schengen visa has not been issued or they were granted only a 10-day entry permit.”
