We Can Send Our Invitation at Any Time: Erdogan
As soon as the President of Syria expresses willingness to normalize relations with Turkey, Ankara will take a step in response. This could be facilitated by Russia, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated while commenting on Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to hold such negotiations in Turkey.
“We are now at a stage where, as soon as Bashar Assad takes a step towards improving relations with Turkey, we will act accordingly. Because in the past, we were not enemies with Syria; we have met with Assad as family. We can send our invitation at any time. We hope that this will allow us to elevate Turkish-Syrian relations to the same level as before. Putin has prospects for holding a meeting in Turkey. The Prime Minister of Iraq also has his own approaches on this matter. We always talk about mediation, but why can’t our own neighbors be the mediators?” Erdogan’s remarks were quoted by the Anadolu Agency.
