Reformist candidate and former Minister of Health Masoud Pezeshkian has won the second round of Iran's extraordinary presidential elections. This was announced by Mohsen Eslami, the official representative of the Islamic Republic's electoral headquarters.

According to him, speaking on IRIB television, Pezeshkian gathered 16.384 million votes, which is at least 53.6% of the total, based on the processing of all 30.530 million ballots. Conservative Saeed Jalili, the representative of the Supreme National Security Council of the Republic’s leader, received 13.538 million votes, or 44.3%.

According to official data, voter turnout was 49.8%. Eslami stated that 30.530 million voters participated in the second round of the elections, while around 61 million people have the right to vote in Iran. The participation rate in the first round of the presidential elections was about 40%, the lowest in the history of the Islamic Republic.

It is noteworthy that the second round of extraordinary presidential elections took place on July 5, following the death of the country's executive authority leader. President Ebrahim Raisi died on May 19 in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan province. Seven others were on board the aircraft, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
