Record Voter Turnout in French Parliamentary Elections Since 1981
On Sunday, July 7, the French are voting in the second round of parliamentary elections. According to the French Ministry of the Interior, voter turnout by 12:00 PM has reached 26.63%, the highest since 1981.
Voters are tasked with electing 501 out of the 577 members of the National Assembly. In the first round, 76 parliamentarians were elected. In this extraordinary parliamentary election, 26.23% of all registered voters had cast their ballots by midday. This marks the highest voter participation in parliamentary elections since 1981, at 12 PM, when leftist forces came to power, reports AFP.
