Protests Across Israel

Mariam Z.

Israelis have once again taken to the streets across the country, demanding that authorities quickly release hostages held in the Gaza Strip and call for early elections as part of a nationwide day of protest. This was reported by the Ynet portal, noting that July 7 marks exactly eight months since the attack on Israel by Palestinian militants from Gaza.

The protests began on the morning of July 7 in 30 locations throughout Israel, including nine major transportation intersections, according to the portal. At 06:29 AM, precisely when alarms sounded on October 7, 2023, warning of rocket attacks from the Palestinian enclave and the incursion of armed fighters from Gaza into Israel, hundreds of demonstrators gathered near the homes of 18 Israeli ministers and Knesset members. They demanded that action be taken as swiftly as possible to secure the release of hostages.

Additionally, protesters gathered outside the headquarters of Histadrut, the Israeli trade union federation, demanding that it declare a general strike to promptly call for elections, as reported by Ynet. Massive protests are planned for the evening of July 7 in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, writes The Times of Israel.
