Turkey's Foreign Minister: 'Clear Preference Given to Armenia'
Turkey has expressed dissatisfaction with the positions of several Western countries in the context of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This statement was made by Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Shusha, which came under Azerbaijani control, during a meeting of heads of foreign affairs agencies from countries participating in the Turkic States Organization.
Fidan expressed hope that the current negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia would lead to the prompt signing of a peace agreement.
“In this context, we particularly appreciate Azerbaijan's strong determination and its positive approach to the signing of the agreement. However, we are not satisfied with the imbalanced attitudes of certain Western countries, which clearly give preference to Armenia and overlook Azerbaijan's concerns. As the Turkic world, we want this process to be successful,” Fidan was quoted by TASS as saying.
Fidan also emphasized that a historical opportunity has emerged to achieve peace in the South Caucasus, which would positively affect the security of the region and international logistics capabilities.
