Georgian President Comments on Delay of US Joint Exercises
The postponement of the "Valiant Partner" joint Georgian-American exercises poses a threat to the strategic partnership between the two countries and to Georgia’s defense capabilities. This was stated by Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili.
"This harms our country. It can be as detrimental as the Russian law on our European path. It is a blow to our strategic partnership with the United States, a threat to our defense capabilities, and to everything our country has built so far," Zourabichvili said.
Zourabichvili is confident that the American side’s decision is influenced by the actions of the Georgian authorities. "Our leadership does not understand where their friends are and where their enemies are, and what to do when we are left without partners. Our army will not have the resources for strengthening to ensure the country's security," the president added.
It is noteworthy that the Pentagon announced that the United States has postponed the joint exercises with Georgia indefinitely due to a review of bilateral relations. The exercises were scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 6.
