UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced his resignation from the leadership of the Conservative Party, and consequently, from his position as head of government, following disappointing election results for his party. His resignation statement began with the words I am sorry, according to Sky News.

“I would first like to say that I am sorry. I gave my all to this job. But you have clearly signaled that it is time for the government of the United Kingdom to change,” he stated.
