Traffic Jams Return at Upper Lars: Customs Attaché Explains the Reason
The traffic jams on the road from Georgia to Russia and vice versa at Upper Lars are due to the start of the tourist season. This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by Vahan Hakobyan, the customs attaché of the Armenian Embassy in Russia.
Earlier, social media users reported that the queues extended several kilometers at the border.
"There are queues, and the reason is the beginning of the tourist season. The flow of passenger and freight vehicles has significantly increased, which has led to certain congestions. I cannot specify the number of trucks stuck in traffic, as most of the trucks on the road left the Armenian border 1-3 days ago and many of them are still on the way," Hakobyan said.
Currently, the Vardenis-Mardakert road is the only land route connecting Russia and Armenia.
