Iran's Ambassador on Upcoming Relations with Armenia Amid New Government Formation

Our policy is to develop and expand our cooperation and interaction with neighboring countries, including Armenia. This was stated by Mehdi Sahabani, Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, in a conversation with reporters.

"This fundamental policy does not change with the change of governments. All candidates in the presidential elections have adopted a policy to develop foreign relations and ties with neighboring states," he noted.

The ambassador also added that citizens of various nationalities live in Iran, but this cannot affect the country's adopted foundational and national policies.

"We have been friends with Armenia, we are friends, and we will remain friends. Relations with Armenia will further develop within the framework of the newly forming government. The fundamental policy of every country is based on national and mutual interests, and that principle does not change," he emphasized.

It should be noted that the second round of presidential elections has started in Iran. Reformist Masoud Pezeshkian, who received 42.32% of the votes in the first round, is competing for the presidency against conservative Said Jalili, who garnered 39.51%.
