The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Proposes a Monument to Mher Mkrtchyan in Yerevan
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, has proposed to the Mayor of Yerevan to establish a monument to Mher Mkrtchyan in the capital. Simonyan announced this on his Telegram channel.
“Today marks the 94th anniversary of the birth of Mher Mkrtchyan, one of the most prominent figures in Armenian cinema and theater. It surprises me that until now there is no monument to this artist, who enjoys nationwide love and respect, in Armenia's capital,” Simonyan wrote.
He also indicated his willingness to co-fund the expenses related to the installation of the statue, thanking the Mayor of Yerevan for responding positively to this initiative. Simonyan expressed hope that the Yerevan Council will discuss and make a positive decision regarding this proposal in the near future, resulting in a significant monument dedicated to the great Armenian artist in the capital.
