Soldier Who Died Today Joined Service to Help His Mother: He Was the Eldest Child of the Family

On July 3, at approximately 00:45, contract soldier Sargis Arthur Khachatryan, stationed at military unit N, suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds under unclear circumstances. He was from the village of Sotk in the Gegharkunik region.

A resident of Sotk shared with NEWS.am that 21-year-old Sargis Khachatryan was the eldest child in his family, with two younger brothers and one sister. “Sargis’s father has passed away. The entire burden of the children was on the mother. Sargis joined the 'Honorary Service' program to help support the family and assist his mother. They were a normal family; he did everything to ensure they lacked nothing. Sometimes, when he returned from duty, he would take on other jobs,” recounted a fellow villager.
