3 Tons of Cocaine Found in Banana Shipment Destined for Russia
In the port of El Oro province, Ecuador, police discovered 3 tons of cocaine hidden in banana containers destined for export to Russia. This was reported by TASS, citing the press service of the law enforcement agency.
The police were assisted in locating the narcotics by a specially trained dog. The illegal substances were packed in over 3,000 special packages. It is noted that criminals could have earned up to $250 million from the sale of cocaine in Russia.
Since the beginning of 2024, approximately 140 tons of narcotics have been uncovered in Ecuador. Police have also arrested over 6,000 individuals linked to the illegal trade of prohibited substances.
