Foreign Nationals Assaulted in Yerevan, Stealing Phone, Passport, and $300

On the night of July 1, at 1:31 AM, the owner of a hostel on Khorenatsi Street called the operational management center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reporting that unknown passengers of a vehicle had assaulted their client, stealing a mobile phone and cash.

An operational group from the Central Police Department was dispatched to the scene. The 45-year-old foreign national residing at the mentioned hostel reported that shortly after midnight, he received a call from an unknown number asking him to provide accommodation for two acquaintances. As he stepped out of the hostel to greet them, he encountered two strangers who assaulted him with iron rods, inflicting bodily injuries, and then stole his mobile phone, passport, and $300 from his pocket.

While police were taking measures to uncover the crime, at 3:25 AM, the First University Hospital reported that a 45-year-old man had been admitted with a diagnosis of “laceration of the cranial region.”

Through operational-investigative measures, the criminal investigators of the Central Police Department discovered that the 45-year-old man had been called by another foreign national, aged 26, residing at a hostel on Artsakh Street, while the injuries and theft were committed by two of his compatriots aged 25 and 28.

Subsequent measures led to the discovery of the 26-year-old man at 6 AM on Khorenatsi Street, where he was arrested on reasonable suspicion of complicity in robbery and taken to the Central Police Department. At 7:10 AM, the two younger suspects, aged 25 and 28, were also arrested in the vicinity of Zvartnots Airport on suspicion of robbery and transferred to the Central Police Department. They and the related documents were presented to the investigation body. The circumstances of the case are being clarified.
