Voter Turnout in France Predicted to Reach Levels Not Seen Since 1981
In the first round of the snap parliamentary elections in France, voter turnout is projected to be 69.5%. This level of participation has not been recorded by French voters since 1981. This information was reported by BFMTV, citing an estimate from the Elabe polling institute.
If the forecast comes to fruition, turnout on June 30 will significantly exceed the 47.51% recorded in the first round of the 2022 legislative elections. In fact, it would match the record of the first round of the legislative elections in 1981 (70.9%), during François Mitterrand's presidency. While the turnout was even higher (78.5%) for the 1986 elections held under his presidency, those elections were conducted in a single round.
