Millionaire Burns Down His Own House Over Divorce Dispute

A British millionaire has set fire to his own house to prevent it from going to his wife during their divorce proceedings, according to Oddity Central.

Francis McGuirk, a millionaire and professional golfer, narrowly escaped imprisonment after he torched his $1.4 million home. The act was driven by his desire to ensure that the property would not be awarded to his wife, with whom he is currently going through a divorce.

When worried neighbors called the fire department, firefighters discovered Francis acting strangely. He refused first aid and insisted on returning to the burning house to save his dog. The firefighters managed to contain the fire and rescue the pet.

A court has sentenced Francis to two years of suspended imprisonment. Earlier, he nearly burned down his house in an attempt to get rid of a spider.
