French President Votes in Early Parliamentary Elections
French President Emmanuel Macron voted in the first round of the early elections for the National Assembly (the lower house of Parliament) after deciding to dissolve it on June 9. This was reported by the BFMTV television channel.
The head of state arrived at the polling station in the commune of Le Touquet in northern France with his wife, Brigitte. According to the television report, the area around the polling station was cordoned off for Macron's arrival, and a small group of citizens was allowed to greet the president behind a fence on the opposite street under security supervision.
In addition to the head of state, leading political figures and representatives from the country’s largest parties have already cast their votes in the first round of the elections.
