Two Soldiers Stabbed and Hospitalized in Tavush Region
According to SHAMSHYAN, on June 25th, stabbing incidents occurred in the Tavush region. Around 8:30 PM, operational information was received by the Tavush division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ police, indicating that around 10:00 PM that evening, an altercation took place on the central street of Aygedzor village, during which two citizens were stabbed.
As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the head of the Tavush regional police, Arthur Mkrtchyan, and the operational deputy head of the division, Sevak Badinyan, arrived at the scene, along with the head of the Tavush police department, Arthur Lubyanyan.
Patrol police officers from the Tavush region, led by the commander Levon Martirosyan, also arrived on site. It was confirmed that the operational information received by the community police was accurate.
Police established that the altercation involved Tavush residents Hayk G. (21), Raphael Ch. (19), and Suren J. (19), during which Hayk G. stabbed the others with a knife – one in the seat area and the other in the chest – both of whom were subsequently hospitalized with serious injuries.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Berd investigative division regarding the incident. Police officers quickly apprehended the suspect, Hayk G., taking him into custody and transporting him to the Tavush police department, where he was presented to the Berd investigative division. Following a decision by the investigator, he was arrested and transported to the detained individuals’ facility of the Tavush police department.
According to Shamshyan, the injured parties are soldiers, and the cause of the conflict was the reckless driving of a vehicle on the central street of Aygedzor.
