Georgian Parliament Supports LGBTQ Propaganda Ban in First Reading
Julya
The Georgian parliament has supported a package of bills prohibiting LGBTQ propaganda in its first reading (a designation also associated with extremist organizations banned in the Russian Federation). Seventy-eight lawmakers voted in favor of the 'Family Values and Protection of Minors' bill, achieving the quorum of 50 votes.
Parliamentarians also defended amendments made to various laws included in the package. It has been noted that a portion of the opposition did not participate in the discussion and voting of the bill.
Earlier, it was reported that Georgia plans to ban LGBTQ propaganda activities and gender reassignment surgeries.
