Day of Silence in Iran
The election campaign period for candidates running for the presidency of Iran has concluded. Starting from 8:00 AM local time, a day of silence has commenced in the country.
According to a statement from the election headquarters of the Islamic Republic, "We request all candidates, parties, political movements, and their supporters to refrain from conducting any campaign activities after the end of the allocated period, as well as not to carry any campaign symbols on the election day in support of the candidates."
A total of five political figures will compete for the presidency. They include the Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani, representative of the Supreme Leader in the National Security Council Saeed Jalili, former heads of the ministries of Interior and Justice Mostafa Pourmohammadi (all conservatives), and former Minister of Health Masoud Pezeshkian (reformist).
