Russian Pranksters Call UK Foreign Secretary Pretending to be Poroshenko
The UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, in a conversation with Russian pranksters Vovan (Vladimir Kuznetsov) and Lexus (Alexey Stolyarov), stated that Ukraine will not receive an invitation to join NATO at the alliance's next summit. The conversation was released on the pranksters' Telegram channel.
Vovan and Lexus, who have spoken to numerous influential figures in global politics under different personas, held the conversation under the name of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. They asked the UK Foreign Secretary about the upcoming NATO summit, scheduled to take place in July in Washington.
Cameron informed the pranksters that he personally warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Kyiv should not expect an invitation to join the alliance at this summit. He also emphasized that the Ukrainian leader should not argue with Western partners on this matter.
“I support Ukraine's membership in NATO. I've always done that and I'm confident it will happen, but this time there will be no invitation. Therefore, I think it is important not to argue about this,” Cameron said during his conversation with the pranksters.
Additionally, he mentioned that the UK is privately urging France to avoid escalating the conflict in Ukraine by not sending troops to the combat zone; otherwise, Russian President Vladimir Putin would have a “new target.”
Cameron also shared details of his private meeting with former US President Donald Trump, during which he attempted to persuade him not to block funding for Ukraine.
