Podolyak: Putin's Plan Is Absolutely Absurd

Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's office, has dismissed the proposal from former U.S. President Donald Trump's advisors regarding a ceasefire in the conflict along the front lines. Podolyak stated that freezing the war in this manner would be 'strange' as Russia has violated international law and its military is present on Ukrainian territory.

'Ukraine clearly understands this, and it is outlined in the peace resolution proposed by President Zelensky. It clearly states that peace must be just and must be based only on international law,' he said in an interview with Reuters.

Podolyak added that the war cannot end without holding Russia accountable. He also called the ceasefire conditions suggested by Russian President Vladimir Putin absurd. 'We see Putin's plan; it is absolutely absurd,' emphasized the advisor to the Ukrainian president's office.

Earlier, it was reported that Donald Trump could demand Kiev to initiate peace talks with Moscow under the threat of halting U.S. military aid if he wins in the upcoming presidential elections. This plan is designed to resolve the military conflict in Ukraine and was developed by two key advisors of Trump during his presidency (2017-2021), former Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg and Fred Flights. The initiative suggests that Washington would also threaten Moscow by increasing support for Kiev if they refuse to negotiate. The plan involves freezing the conflict 'along the current front line.'
