Trump Discusses Torture in Georgia Jail in August 2023

Former President Donald Trump, a candidate for the U.S. presidency, has stated in a letter to his campaign supporters that he was tortured during his incarceration in a Georgia jail in 2023. Notably, it was at this facility that his infamous mugshot was taken for a federal criminal case, as reported by The Hill.

In his message, Trump also recounted the story behind the creation of his mugshot, which has become part of a marketing campaign for the sale of coffee mugs. According to the former American leader, the proceeds from these sales will be used for his campaign needs.

“I want you to remember what they did to me: They tortured me in the Fulton County jail and took my picture for the mugshot. And guess what? I put it on the mug for the whole world to see,” Trump wrote.

In August 2023, Donald Trump was officially arrested for interference in the previous U.S. presidential election. After arriving at the jail, where he stayed for about 20 minutes, fingerprints were taken and his mugshot was captured for his records, marking the first time in history an image of a sitting or former president has been recorded this way.

At the end of May, Trump became the first former U.S. president to be convicted of a felony. Based on testimony, evidence, and charges presented in a New York court, jurors unanimously found that Trump had falsified business records to conceal payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
