“It Takes Two to Tango”: Russia on Its Relations with Armenia
Russia is ready to build friendly relations with Armenia, said Konstantin Kosachov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, during the Primakov Readings. He emphasized that "it takes two to tango," meaning that the final outcome depends on Yerevan.
His statements were relayed by NEWS.ru. "Russia is unequivocally ready to build friendly and allied relations with Armenia; we will remain committed to this course until the end. But for the tango to dance, you need two people. The final outcome does not depend on Russia; it depends on Armenia and to what extent the current leadership of Armenia understands the risks of antagonism towards Russia," Kosachov pointed out.
The senator added that Armenia's rapprochement with the West is an irresponsible step. He noted that by observing the examples of other countries in the post-Soviet space, one can see the consequences of such a relationship with the West, and therefore, Russia does not want Armenia to meet a similar fate.
