I Am Ready to Engage in Dialogue with Protesters, Says Kenyan President

Kenyan President William Ruto has announced his willingness to engage in dialogue with protesters, but only on the basis of constitutional mechanisms.  “As I stated on Sunday, I am ready to enter into dialogue with the protesters, but it must be based on constitutional mechanisms,” TASS quoted him as saying.  Earlier, it was reported that law enforcement in Kenya used rubber bullets against protesters who took to the streets in opposition to tax increases.  A state of emergency has been declared in the country.
