Armenia's Sovereign Right to Choose Its Security and Defense Partners, EU Spokesperson
Peter Stano, the spokesperson for the EU's foreign policy, responded to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's accusations and threats regarding France and the Armenia-France military cooperation. He stated that the EU's own history demonstrates that building trust between countries after a long conflict requires time, forgiveness, and patience.
In response to a question from an Armenpress correspondent in Brussels, Stano reaffirmed the EU's readiness to support the peace process. He emphasized, “It is Armenia's sovereign right to choose its security and defense partners. The EU continues to support all efforts to achieve progress in the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and encourages decisive steps towards achieving sustainable and lasting peace in the region.”
