South Korea Outlines Conditions for Arms Supply to Ukraine
The head of the National Security Office of the South Korean President's Office, Chang Ho-jin, has stated that the Republic will not adhere to the restrictions on supplying arms to Ukraine if Russia transfers modern military technology to North Korea. He made this statement during an interview on KBS television.
Chang emphasized that everything depends on Russia's actions. He posed the question, 'Will any lines remain for us if Russia provides precision-guided weapons to North Korea?' The official did not specify what types of weapons and under what circumstances South Korea might supply arms to Ukraine, as he argued that such actions would weaken the 'leverage of influence' on Russia.
According to Chang, efforts must be made not only by the Republic of Korea to monitor the situation in bilateral relations. He noted that Russia's recent actions were 'gradually approaching a red line.' He added, 'Therefore, if they want to restore relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea after the war, the Russian side must also carefully weigh everything.'
