Armenia Recognizes the State of Palestine: Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The devastating humanitarian situation in Gaza and the ongoing military conflict are among the pressing issues on the international political agenda that require resolution. The Republic of Armenia categorically rejects the targeting of civilian infrastructure during armed conflicts, violence against civilians, and the hostage-taking and captivity of civilians. We join the demands of the international community for their unconditional release.

This statement was released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. The statement particularly notes: “The Republic of Armenia has joined the resolutions of the UN General Assembly, which call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Furthermore, the Republic of Armenia is sincerely interested in establishing peace and stability in the Middle East and achieving lasting reconciliation between the Jewish and Palestinian peoples. On various international platforms, we have consistently advocated for a peaceful and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue and support the ‘two-state’ principle for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We are convinced that this is the only way to ensure that Palestinians and Israelis can realize their legitimate aspirations.”

In light of the above and reaffirming its commitment to international law and the principles of equality, sovereignty, and peaceful coexistence of peoples, the Republic of Armenia recognizes the State of Palestine.
