Israeli Defense Minister Travels to Washington to Discuss Key Issues

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has traveled to Washington, where he plans to meet with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to discuss the situation at the Lebanon border, the conflict in Gaza, including the "third phase" following the end of active military operations in the enclave, as well as defense cooperation between the two countries. This was reported by the Israeli Ministry of Defense's press service.

"During these meetings, I intend to discuss developments in Gaza and Lebanon. We are prepared for any actions that may be required in Gaza, Lebanon, and other areas," Gallant stated before departing for the U.S., with his comments being disseminated by the Israeli Ministry of Defense's press service.

The Israeli Defense Minister noted that "the transition to the third phase (after the end of active military operations in the Gaza Strip) is of great significance." "I will discuss this transition with U.S. officials," Gallant continued. "I know that we will achieve close cooperation with the U.S. on this issue as well," he added, emphasizing that "meetings with U.S. officials are crucial for this war (in the Gaza Strip)."

The Ministry of Defense's press service added that during meetings with U.S. officials, Gallant would discuss the necessary actions to achieve the objectives of the war against the Hamas terrorist organization, efforts to secure the return of hostages held by Hamas, and the measures needed to achieve regional stability.

"It will also address unique areas of cooperation between the U.S. and Israeli defense departments, with a particular focus on force buildup, power projection, and efforts to maintain Israel's qualitative edge in the region," the Ministry of Defense noted.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously criticized the U.S. for the alleged suspension or postponement of certain arms supplies to Israel. Washington has categorically rejected Netanyahu's conclusions, labeling them as unfounded.
