Trump Leads Biden in Key Battleground States
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has taken the lead over current occupant of the White House, Joe Biden, in six swing states that are likely to determine the outcome of the upcoming presidential election. This is according to a poll conducted by the analytical service of Emerson College in collaboration with The Hill newspaper.
Trump holds an advantage over Biden in Arizona (47% to 43%), Georgia (45% to 41%), Wisconsin (47% to 44%), Nevada (46% to 43%), Pennsylvania (47% to 45%), and Michigan (46% to 45%). The poll also indicated that a majority of respondents stated that the indictments against the former president and Hunter Biden, the son of the current U.S. leader, would not influence their voting decisions.
The survey was conducted from June 13 to June 18, with 1,000 registered American voters participating from each state. The margin of error was reported to be 3 percentage points.
The next elections in the U.S. are set to take place on November 5. The 81-year-old Democrat Joe Biden and 77-year-old Republican Donald Trump have both confirmed their official candidacies for the leadership of the Washington administration from the two major parties. Their nominations are expected to be formally ratified at the national party conventions for Republicans and Democrats in July and August, respectively. Thus, the race will predictably be between the same candidates as four years ago, when Biden defeated Trump, who was seeking re-election.
