Moldovan President Signs Decree to Start EU Membership Negotiations
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, has signed a decree to commence negotiations for the country's membership in the European Union (EU). This was reported by TASS.
The press service of the Moldovan presidency announced that the negotiations will begin on June 25 in Luxembourg. The chief negotiator for the Republic will be the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gerasimova.
“The head of state has signed a decree on the initiation of negotiations regarding EU membership and has appointed Cristina Gerasimova as the chief negotiator for the Republic of Moldova in matters of European integration,” the statement said.
