439 Million Dram Damage to the State Recovered: RA Anti-Corruption Committee

The damage of 439 million drams caused to the state by one of the companies operating in Ararat Province has been recovered, according to the RA Anti-Corruption Committee.

According to the investigation, the community leader of one of the municipalities in Ararat Province, identified as S.B., learned that D. Gh., the owner of a large company, is constructing a greenhouse on a 266,000 square meter area belonging to his company in the Shahumyan community without permission.

Based on personal interest and at D. Gh.'s suggestion, the community leader created false documents stating that there was no existing greenhouse on the specified land and granted a fake permit for the construction of the greenhouse. As a result, the community did not receive a payment of 439 million drams.

Later, additional false documents were created to legalize the illegal construction.

The rector of Haybusak University was implicated in taking money from several individuals under the pretext of admission to the university.

During the pre-investigation, charges were brought against D. Gh., the director of the LLC, under Articles 38-308.2 (aiding in the abuse of official powers) and 38-314.1 (aiding in official forgery) of the former Criminal Code, as well as Article 325.1 (forgery of documents, stamps, seals, forms, vehicle registration plates), while the community leader S.B. was charged under Article 308.2 (abuse of official powers) and 314.1 (official forgery) of the former Criminal Code.

On June 11, 2024, the defendant D. Gh. fully reimbursed the damage caused by the crime, amounting to about 439 million drams.

On June 17, 2024, motions were submitted to the supervising prosecutor requesting that the criminal prosecutions against the aforementioned defendants be terminated due to the expiration of the statutes of limitations and express remorse, which were granted.
