Ararat Mirzoyan Will Not Attend Upcoming CSTO Foreign Ministers Council Meeting

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, will not participate in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of CSTO member states, scheduled for June 21 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ani Badalyan, in response to a question from Armenpress.

During this meeting, which will be held under the presidency of Kazakhstan, the foreign ministers of CSTO member countries are expected to discuss international developments, the situation in the region, mechanisms for strengthening coordination in foreign policy, and also summarize the various collaborations carried out within the organization.

It is anticipated that the Council will approve several draft decisions, which will be presented for approval at the next meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council on November 28 this year.

In February 2024, Armenia announced the suspension of its membership in the CSTO, and later refused to pay the membership fee. On June 12, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, while speaking in the National Assembly, did not rule out the possibility that Armenia may eventually leave the CSTO.
