The West Accused of Attempting to Destroy Turkey's Economy

The West's anti-Russian sanctions are also aimed at destroying Turkey's economy, stated Turkish historian and political analyst Mehmet Perinçek. His remarks were quoted by RIA Novosti.

"Sanctions against Russia are also directed at Turkey, aiming to weaken it so that it cannot resist U.S. plans," Perinçek believes.

The historian is also confident that the Ukrainian issue is being exploited to worsen Russian-Turkish relations, leaving Ankara without partners.

Recently, it was reported that the U.S. has begun showing increased interest in Turkish companies that may cooperate with Russia to bypass the sanctions. Previously, Putin explained why trade volume with Turkey had decreased, linking it to price adjustments of goods.
