Investigation into 'Crocus' Terrorist Attack Case May Conclude This Summer

The investigation into the terrorist attack case at 'Crocus City Hall' near Moscow may conclude this summer. Sources from the judicial system informed Izvestia on June 18.

Preliminarily, the case will be sent to the 2nd Western Regional Military Court for substantive examination.

It is noted that the hearings may be held off-site, as the military court does not have suitable chambers for the 18 defendants expected in connection with the criminal case prosecuted under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code (terrorist act).

The commencement of the court hearings is anticipated after August 12 at the appellate building of the Moscow City Court, provided that all agreements are successfully reached.

Additionally, Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements for life and health) will be preliminarily discussed in the general jurisdiction court. However, no charges in final form have yet been filed by the investigative authorities.

Sources from the Investigative Committee have not confirmed that the investigation is nearing completion, while the lawyers for the terrorists have declined to comment.
