Cause of Poisoning of Hundreds in Russia Revealed

The poisoning of 150 individuals has been traced back to canned beans. Botulinum toxin was produced within these beans, leading to the poisoning of numerous people.

According to Baza, three individuals have been detained in connection with the botulism case: Anton Lozin, the founder of Kitchen on the District; Mashkova, head of the quality department; and Anatoly Shyn, the general director of Savon-K. They are suspected of producing and selling products that do not meet safety requirements.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the problem originated from the beans used to prepare the salad. However, it remains unclear whether storage norms were violated or if the raw materials were inherently of poor quality. Currently, the Savon-K office has been sealed, and the beans have been confiscated for inspection.

Investigators also searched the residence of Savon-K's director Anatoly Shyn, seizing documents, computers, and phones for further investigation.

Botulinum toxin was found in the "Lobio with Beans" salad sold by Kitchen on the District in Moscow, the Moscow region, Nizhny Novgorod, and Kazan. Over 150 poisoning cases have been reported across these areas, with dozens of individuals in critical condition.
