Police Use 'Zarya 3' Flashbang Grenade Against Protesters

The police employed special measures yesterday against protesters gathered at the Baghramyan-Demirchyan intersection. Among these were the Russian-made 'Zarya 3' hand-thrown flashbang grenades, as captured by our colleagues at 'Fotolur.' This has been reported by 'Hetq.'

The state company 'Rosoboronexport', which is the sole state intermediary for the export and import of military and dual-use goods, technologies, and services in Russia, announces on its official website that the 'Zarya 3' flashbang grenade temporarily suppresses an armed criminal's psychological stability through sound and light effects, reducing their combat capability and allowing the operating personnel and surrounding individuals to carry out special operations with minimal risk.

This information is also provided by the manufacturer, the 'Scientific Research Institute of Applied Chemistry,' a federal scientific-production center in Russia. According to the Russian manufacturer and exporter, this grenade weighs 180 grams, with a sound pressure level of 160±15 decibels at a distance of 10 meters. It is noteworthy that according to the World Health Organization (WHO), the maximum allowable noise level for humans is 85 decibels. The threshold for pain for humans is between 120-140 decibels, while sound pressure above 140 decibels can rupture the eardrum or cause barotrauma, even leading to fainting.

According to the aforementioned Russian entities, the maximum light intensity of the 'Zarya 3' grenade exceeds 40x106 candelas (to put it in perspective, it is accepted that the light intensity of a single candle is equal to 1 candela).

After pulling the pin on the 'Zarya 3,' the explosion occurs after 4±1 seconds.
